Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu |
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Wednesday called on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to tell the public why he did not attend the party’s governorship grand rally, held in Akure, last week.
Lalong, who is the Chairman of Ondo APC Governorship Campaign Council, made the request to Tinubu followed Tokunbo Afikuyomi's public dismissal of his statement that Tinubu could not attend Akure rally due to ill health.
Daily Trust report that the governor's media adviser, Daniel Manjang, told its reporter on phone Wednesday that Tinubu should clear the air on the matter.
Tinubu and three governors from the South-west states were absent at the campaign rally attended by President Muhammadu Buhari for the Ondo gubernatorial elections coming up this Saturday.
Governor Lalong had on Monday told reporters at the State House after visiting the President that Tinubu was ill and had travelled for medical check-up abroad that was why he could not attend the rally, a statement the Tinubu's associate, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, said was “incorrect.”
Lalong had accused Tinubu of speaking through a proxy and created a “web” too difficult to understand, saying that Tinubu ought to have spoken himself and that he was privileged to some information kept secret to Afikuyomi.
