Benue state Commissioner for Culture charged, remanded in prison for murder

Benue State's Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Sekav Dzua-Iortyom, who has been arrested for allege murder of a university lecturer Mr Wilfred Aondosoo Tondo was Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court (CMC) presided over by  Mrs. ikyeer.

The Commissioner who was wanted by the police for the murder which occurred on August 11, 2016 at Mkar Benue state was picked up by the police on Monday and charged for the murder of Aondosoo Tondo who was  a lecturer at the University of Mkar and was also an aspirant in the race for the chairmanship of Buruku Local Government Council.

Mr Tondo was waken up by the four assassins who after a few words with him short him severally and he later died at the Benue State University Teaching hospital Makurdi. 

Following the killing the commissioner was fingered as a prime suspect alongside several others, including the Sole Administrator of Buruku Local Government Council, David Yimam.

The commissioner and the other suspects were interrogated by the Police over the matter, but when they were to be arraigned in court, the Commissioner absconded and was subsequently declared wanted by the Police. 
 
The Chief Magistrate court said the suspect be remanded in custody at the Medium Security Prisons, Makurdi and adjourned the case to February 9, 2017.
